Foster

  • Provide opportunities for bowhunters to meet, share experiences, engage in friendly competition, and develop a fraternal spirit.
  • Promote good sportsmanship, good hunting ethics, and safe hunting practices.
  • Advocate for a balance of quantity and quality of bowhunting opportunities, i.e, having access to land that's largely void of huntable game populations isn't going to get anyone excited about hunting there.

Protect

  • Present our membership's positions to government officials, departments, and legislators.
  • Support enforcement of regulations that curtail the illegal or unethical taking of wildlife.

Preserve

  • Educate the hunters and the general public about the values of bowhunting.
  • Promote and work to maintain high quality wildlife habitat in Minnesota.
  • Support efforts to increase opportunities for bowhunters to hunt on public and private lands.

We are proud bowhunters and archery enthusiasts!

We are NOT a crossbow organization and do NOT support the full inclusion of crossbows into archery seasons. This unnecessary addition is detrimental to archery clubs and has not shown long term positive impacts to youth or overall R3 compared to states without crossbowed archery seasons. We have 50 years of data starting with Ohio in 1976.

Crossbows, airbows, ect are valid harvest methods and more opportunities for hunters to use them outside of the firearm season is something that we could support. However, our archery seasons were established for a specific style of hunting which at its core is user drawn and held archery. That distinction does matter which is why we have testified in the House and Senate for a compromise where a crossbow season (under a separate license) would start no sooner than the start of the firearm season and potentially last for almost 7.5 weeks (end of year).

Join our petition and our continued efforts to protect and promote archery bowhunting in our communities, with the DNR, and through legislation! Removing the archery requirement from archery seasons defeats the purpose, turns archery seasons into a crossbow seasons, and substantially alters all other seasons.
